Anxiety is actually a biological protective mechanism. You see in our primal days our first brain (r-brain or known as the reptilian brain) was very much there for protection, very territorial, and back then we would have to consider for potential attacks or threatening situations, so we would prepare for the worst in case something would happen, so anxiety is a protective mechanism but into days world we rely 'less' on threatening situations, but the brain can still run the process.
