Time…. what is time, what does it do and does it exist?
On my run this morning with my dog Howard along some wonderful fields I was thinking all about time…..
Although time is a man made construct and ultimately does not exist in my mind, ultimately it does exist in our perception.
Why am I on about time?
Well time changes everything, if you know you have 1 day to finish a project you knuckle down and finish it by the day’s end – right? However if you are given a month to do the project more often than not you would pace yourself (or some leave it to the last day like the first example – you know who you are!)
If you have more time it’s less important, if you have less time it’s more important.
I have a question for you though.
Is your life important?
Easy answer – right? You know it is, but because we feel our life is for a long period of time the less we do the things we want, should or have to do. So we inevitably put our dreams on hold, ‘I’ll do it next week, next month, and next year’
It’s a common trap, and this blog is about me too, like most blogs, if I think it, a part of it is about me, as I begin about thinking about it…….
If you had one year to live, what would you do?
If you had six months to live, what would you do?
If you had a week to live, what would you do?
Can you notice the less time we have the more urgent and important our time is?
By no means would I want you to have that mindset of ‘if only I had ‘x’ amount of time left’, but let’s think:
‘How can I do all the things I want today?’
‘What 3 things will I do today to actualise my dreams?’
‘Am i doing what is important? Am i being my passion? Am I living life?’
Do it today.
Another thing, I was re-watching the film ‘Peaceful Warrior’ by Dan Millman and a quote popped out at me.
“A Warrior meditates in every moment”
What does that mean guys?
To me, it’s being fully present in every moment, living in the now and taking on everything in your experience and having absolute gratitude for now.
Well that’s what I was thinking on my run, running by the fields, being aware of me, being aware of the crops moving in the breeze, feeling the early morning rays of the sun, feeling my heart beat, seeing the wonderful shades of yellows, greens and browns, and even watching Howard pant as he runs along the field with each stride, being aware of life.
It’s amazing what you are aware of when you focus on your awareness, isn’t it?
